World Premiere of Scream VI

Jenna Ortega In Line To Star in ‘Beetlejuice 2’ For Director Tim Burton

Burton has been looking to create a sequel to the cult classic for some time now, and it seems that he may finally be making progress.

Production on “Beetlejuice 2” is set to begin in London in late May or early June, although the budget for the film has yet to be confirmed, which has reportedly caused some tension between parties involved. Regardless, Ortega seems to be in high demand these days, having broken out last year with her role in the sequel to the horror franchise “Scream.”

Her latest project is “Scream VI,” which premiered on March 10th and sees her reprising her role as Tara Carpenter in the popular slasher franchise. The original “Beetlejuice” film starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jones, and Catherine O’Hara, and went on to become a box office success.

The movie eventually led to Keaton and Burton teaming up again for the 1989 film “Batman,” which also became a worldwide hit. Interestingly enough, this summer will see Keaton once again donning the iconic cowl of Batman/Bruce Wayne in the highly anticipated movie “The Flash,” which is set to premiere in June.

If Ortega does indeed join the cast of “Beetlejuice 2,” it would certainly make sense given her buzzworthy performance in “Wednesday.” Ortega’s success in “Scream VI” is also worth noting, as the film has already grossed $81 million domestically and $137 million worldwide.

It also received critical acclaim, with a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While “Beetlejuice 2” does not yet have a release date, it is clear that the project is in an active state of pre-production, and fans of the original film are no doubt excited to see what Burton and Keaton have in store for them.
