Before the country star’s performance of the Super Bowl National Anthem, he received a surprise from Creedence Clearwater Revival’s co-founder John Fogerty. Share behind-the-scenes photos on Twitter, the singing legend revealed the unique reason their meeting was meaningful. Not only did John express how much Chris’ version of a song he wrote affected him, but it prompted him to share some special news as well.
“Look who I ran into before his Super Bowl appearance,” John wrote on February 12. “What an amazing talent. I’m happy and honored that he recorded a song I wrote, ‘Joy of My Life.’ I have to tell him how much it meant to me. On Valentine’s Day I will be releasing a new arrangement of my song.”
For those wondering, John first released “Joy of My Life” back in 1997 on his album Blue Moon Swamp. More than a decade later, Chris recorded a cover in 2020 for his LP Startbut it took off when he re-released it as a single in March 2022. Now John has resurrected his original song with a live version.
When fans saw the interaction between the musicians on social media, they immediately started sharing their thoughts. Also, they had a special request for the two of them.
