He wrote three books in the past three years that instruct readers on how to find contentment in the face of hardship.

The ex-husband of Rachel Hollis, author of the self-help book Girl, Wash Your Face, and former head of international distribution at Disney, Dave Hollis, has died at the age of 47.

He was recently hospitalized for heart problems, and on Saturday Variety reported that he passed away at his home in Austin. On Tuesday, he would have turned 48. His four children, Ford, Jackson, Sawyer and Noah, are still alive.
No exact cause of death has yet been revealed.

On Tuesday, Rachel asked for prayers for her and Dave’s children in an Instagram post.

She wrote: “We are sorry. I cannot convey my feelings as they are too torn to do so.. Please remember the children in your prayers as we try to deal with the unimaginable.

According to the firm, Dave oversaw theatrical distribution at Disney from 2011 to 2018 at pivotal moments for the film studio, such as 2016 when the worldwide box office exceeded $7 billion. Later, in 2018, he resigned from the position to lead Chic Media, Rachel’s business.

On June 8, 2020, the two made their online separation official. Before that, during their 14-year marriage, the couple gained notoriety through Rachel’s well-known Instagram account, where they promoted the value of hard work, humility and family.

Dave was a prolific self-help author like Rachel. A few months before the couple announced their divorce, he released his first book, Get Out of Your Own Way: A Skeptic’s Guide to Growth and Fulfillment.

After a challenging year for him, Dave then published a second self-help book titled Built Through Bravery: Face Your Fears to Live the Life You Were Meant For 2021. In this book, he discussed how to develop courage in the face of adversity.

Dave released his third and final book, the children’s story Here’s to Your Dreams, last November. In the book A Teatime With Noah, the theme of empowerment through bravery was explored.

Despite having a good reputation, Dave and Rachel have been involved in many scandals, such as the one in 2021 when Dave advised his Instagram followers to either buy his book or unfollow him. That same year, Rachel also received criticism for drawing comparisons between herself and Harriet Tubman.

On February 5, Dave uploaded his final Instagram post, which included a picture of Noah grinning while fishing. “In less than 48 hours I went from freezing to shorts. It was a nice day today,” he wrote in the caption.

Mel Robbins, an attorney and television personality, spoke about the passing of her close friend, whom she compared to a brother, in an Instagram post.

Robbins wrote, “You made me laugh harder than anyone I’ve ever met.” “We could have endless conversations with anyone about anything. We did. There was joy wherever we went.

The CEO of the multimedia Hollis Company and a New York Times best-selling author, Rachel Hollis, took to social media today to express her shock at the tragic passing of Dave Hollis, a former Disney Worldwide Distribution President, who was her ex-husband.

At the age of 47, Dave Hollis died on Saturday. Although there was no information on the cause of death, the family acknowledged that the former Disney executive had been hospitalized due to heart problems.

On Instagram, Rachel Hollis commented: “We are devastated.” “I can’t express myself because my heart is too broken to do so.
Remember the children in your prayers as we try to navigate the unthinkable, she continued.

There are four children left by Dave Hollis.

The distribution industry was shocked to hear of Dave Hollis’ passing. With franchise highs like Star Wars: Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War, the Disney veteran with 17 years of experience guided Disney’s slate during its pre-Fox merger and Disney+ heyday.

With $7 billion worldwide in 2016, $6 billion in 2017, and a seven-year tenure in which 12 Disney titles managed north of $1 billion at the global box office and one over $2 billion, his box office track record was more than impeccable. In addition, Hollis was known for his captivating demeanor, good character and razor-sharp financial acumen.

Then, at the 2018 CinemaCon, Disney chairman Alan Horn compared the departing Hollis to former Warner Bros. Disney distribution president Dan Fellman, calling Hollis “an equal”.

At CinemaCon that year, Horn exclaimed, “When I left I thought I’d never see his equal, but I have, and that’s Dave Hollis.”

In June 2018, Hollis left Disney to work for and run his then-wife Rachel’s multimedia empire, which included motivational speeches, books, self-help podcasts and business ventures. In August 2018, he managed Fathom Events’ theatrical debut of her film Rachel Hollis Presents: Made for More.

The documentary followed the author of Girl, Wash Your Face as she worked to realize her goal of creating the RISE conference series, bringing together women who don’t all look the same.

In March 2020, Dave Hollis created his own self-help book, Get Out of Your Own Way, with inspiration from Rachel. It was released at the same time as Covid. He talked about his successful time as head of Disney distribution in it. “I didn’t have to study because I earned straight As.

Getting hits became more frequent as the record grew and the teams found their rhythm. But the short effort it took to close a sale made me feel something that for the longest time I couldn’t identify. I got the biggest bonuses of my life, the biggest amount of career recognition and was the envy of others who had to work.
